JTST Round 2

The bad weather meant that Kieran Ball and Hope Bailey were both missing from
their teams, this meant the boys would compete with no spare bowler, the girls team
found themselves one short as they only had four bowlers nominated. A quick phone
call to the Joy twins led to Sophie making her debut for the girls (Abigail was
unfortunately ill so she will have to wait a little longer!).

The boys team came to the home fixture with a narrow lead fom Liverpool following
Round 1. It was Liverpool who were to be the opposition in the first game. A very
solid 907 team series saw us take the 10 points and with four wins out of five we took
the tie by 18 points to 2. The girls came to the home leg in second place behind a
very strong Blackburn team (coached by Zara Giles!) whom they met in the first
match. The girls pushed their opponents all the way and although they lost 14 to 2
the result could quite as easily gone their way.

The start set the boys team up to go on to win two tight matches with Wallasy and
then Preston, ultimately taking them both by the same 16 - 4 score. A good day
for the boys and thay are now top with a good 30+ points cushion going into the last
two rounds.

The girls didn't get disheartened by the first game defeat and bounced back to win
their other two games against Preston and the combined Liverpool/Wallasy team
by 16 - 2 in both games. The girls consolidated their position in second place ready
for the final rounds.

North of England Junior Open

Twelve CSYBC bowlers competed in THE NORTH OF ENGLAND JUNIOR OPEN at Firth Park,
Sheffield on Sunday 22nd January 2012 and what a great day it was.

Everyone was in good spirits from the very first ball in the Team event and that lasted all day.
Is it any wonder everybody bowled well with so many happy faces?

Daniel Elliott bowled his highest game of the day - 247 in the first of the nine games and then
repeated the score in his first game in the Singles event. Daniel averaged 195 over his nine
games.

Jamie Elliott bowled his highest series of the day - 656 in the Team event and that included a
243 high game. Jamie finished on a 207 average on the day.

Hugh Davies and Kyle Erskine both had 500+ series and Dominic Short produced his best ever
tournament performance averaging 179 over the nine games. His 256 game and 638 series in
the Doubles are his personal best scores.

Brandon Roberts was simply sensational averaging almost 230 pins a game. He started with
a 668 series in the Team event and followed that with 717 in the Singles and 684 in the Doubles.

The girls did well also with the perfomance of Adriana Roberts leading the way. She recorded her
personal best scores of a 220 game and 600 series in the final event of the day - one very happy
young lady.
Hannah Thomas, Hope Bailey, Chloe Blaxill and Lici Aston Maxwell all bowled above their
average. Hope had a high game of 243, Hannah 191, Katie Short 183, Chloe 184 and Lici 171.

There will be more squads of bowlers competing next weekend and we will wait and see whether
anyone has won prizes but all the  coaches and parents agree that everyone who took part in this
event was a winner.
